The SM7dB features a selectable preamp boost of +18 dB or +28 dB, and a preamp bypass switch to revert to the original SM7B performance when needed. Its flat, wide-range frequency response ensures exceptionally clean and natural reproduction of both music and speech, while bass roll-off and mid-range emphasis (presence boost) controls allow precise tonal shaping.

The microphone’s cardioid polar pattern focuses on the main sound source while rejecting off-axis noise, and internal “air suspension” shock isolation minimizes mechanical vibrations. The integrated pop filter eliminates the need for external wind or pop protection, even for close-talk vocals. Yoke mounting with a captive stand nut provides stable and precise positioning, while rugged construction ensures long-lasting reliability and excellent cartridge protection.
