The Bose Sub1 is a powered, portable bass module designed to add impactful low end to virtually any portable PA system, delivering usable output down to 40 Hz from a remarkably slim enclosure. At the heart of the Sub1 is a 7 by 13 inch high-excursion RaceTrack driver, whose stadium-shaped cone area rivals the output of a traditional 12 inch round woofer while keeping the physical enclosure noticeably slimmer, freeing up space in a vehicle or on a crowded stage.

A 480 watt Class D onboard amplifier powers the driver, with an onboard digital mixer offering two input channels through combination XLR or quarter-inch TRS connectors, each with selectable equalisation presets including a low pass filter and L1 optimisation mode. XLR balanced line-level output connectors on each channel offer their own selectable equalisation presets, covering full bandwidth, high-pass filter and S1 Pro optimisation, letting the Sub1 integrate cleanly with different Bose portable PA systems beyond the L1 Pro range.

The Sub1 combines seamlessly with the Bose L1 Pro32 portable line array system via proprietary single-cable SubMatch connectivity, which carries both power and audio between the units, letting the system’s crossover and EQ calibrate automatically for optimal sound without the sub needing its own wall power connection. When a SubMatch cable is not used, the Sub1 can instead connect via balanced quarter-inch cable to any powered loudspeaker, in which case it must be plugged into wall power directly.

Multiple Sub1 units can be stacked for greater low-end output, or switched into Cardioid Mode for focused, directional bass performance that reduces rear-firing energy by 10dB, keeping the stage and microphones clear of low-frequency feedback, an especially useful feature for outdoor events. This UK-market unit ships configured for 230V power, and an integrated threaded pole mount lets it double as a stand for a compatible Bose S1 Pro or other portable loudspeaker.
