KEF BH6Q Uni-Q Outdoor Bollard Speaker

The KEF BH6Q outdoor bollard speaker provides a dedicated sound source for permanent landscape installations. Its two-way Uni-Q array combines a 160 mm midrange and low-frequency driver with a 19 mm tweeter. Locating the tweeter within the main driver helps the two frequency ranges work as a closely aligned acoustic source for music across the outdoor listening area.

The speaker has a nominal coverage angle of 130 degrees and a specified maximum output of 109 dB. Its frequency response extends from 81 Hz–20 kHz at ±6 dB, while sensitivity is 88 dB at 2.83V/1m. These figures provide a basis for planning speaker positions and listening distances across a garden, patio or other landscaped gathering space.

IP66 protection, a UV-resistant exterior and an aluminium grille support outdoor installation. The stated operating temperature range is -25°C to +70°C. Ground-stake and hardscape mounting arrangements allow the speaker position to be coordinated with planting or suitable solid surfaces, giving the installer different ways to integrate the enclosure into the site.

A KEF Network DSP Amplifier is required, with 240W recommended amplifier power and a nominal speaker impedance of 4 ohms. The crossover frequency is 1.8 kHz. Without a mount, the enclosure measures 378 × 280 × 280 mm and weighs 9.2 kg. Mounting method, amplifier configuration and speaker placement can therefore be planned together as part of the complete outdoor music system. The low bollard format also provides a distinct installation option when a landscape calls for sound sources positioned close to the ground rather than speakers attached to surrounding buildings.
