The Monitor Audio CSS230 is a high-performance ultra-slim architectural loudspeaker engineered for installations where minimal mounting depth is available without compromising acoustic quality. Designed with an innovative hybrid back-box structure and a remarkably shallow 50 mm mounting depth, the CSS230 delivers hi-fi level performance in spaces traditionally unsuitable for premium in-ceiling loudspeakers.

The loudspeaker incorporates three proprietary 3-inch C-CAM cone bass-mid drivers combined with a 19 mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter. This advanced driver configuration enables the compact system to achieve bass output comparable to a conventional 6.5-inch driver while maintaining a discreet flush-mounted profile. The three-driver bass-mid array provides controlled low-frequency response, balanced midrange performance, and improved sound dispersion for consistent room coverage.

A key feature of the CSS230 is its hybrid Controlled Performance enclosure design, allowing operation in either sealed or open-back configuration depending on installation requirements. The sealed CP mode delivers controlled and predictable acoustic performance, while the open-back mode extends low-frequency output for enhanced bass response. A protective fine gauze prevents dust ingress when operating in ported mode, ensuring long-term reliability and consistent performance.

Monitor Audio’s engineering focus extends to the crossover network, which utilises high-quality film capacitors and low-loss inductors to preserve signal integrity and maximise sonic detail. The speaker also features gold-plated sprung push terminals for secure bare-wire connections and the Tri-Grip II fixing system for fast and reliable installation. With optional square or premium grille compatibility and support for the CB6 pre-construction bracket, the CSS230 offers outstanding installation flexibility alongside refined architectural audio performance.
