The Onkyo Muse Y-50 is the flagship all-in-one network streamer and integrated amplifier in Onkyo’s 80th anniversary Muse series, sharing the same fully digital signal path and Axign Class D amplification as the Y-40, but stepping up to 125W per channel into 8 ohms and 250W into 4 ohms for greater headroom in larger rooms and with more demanding speakers.

A 5.46-inch colour LCD display provides track metadata and an analogue-style VU meter, matched by two large front-panel rotary controls for direct operation. Streaming is built in via the Onkyo Controller app, with support for Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Chromecast built-in, AirPlay 2 and DTS Play-Fi over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, giving access to the full range of major streaming platforms.

Where the Y-50 goes further than the Y-40 is in its connectivity and room adaptation: a built-in phono stage supports both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges via a rear-panel switch, an HDMI input and output enable full 4K/120, 8K/60, VRR and ALLM video pass-through between a games console and TV, and a dedicated subwoofer pre-out includes an adjustable crossover for precise bass integration.

Onkyo Room EQ, the brand’s in-house room calibration system, measures the listening space using a phone’s microphone or an optional USB microphone and adjusts the sound field accordingly from the Onkyo Controller app. Combined with three analogue RCA inputs, coaxial digital input, front-panel USB and Bluetooth, the Y-50 is the more complete choice for larger rooms, moving coil turntables, and users who want integrated room correction and video pass-through.
