The choice of recording professionals worldwide, the Genelec 8040B delivers pristine performance with impressive SPLs and ample low-frequency extension, providing truthfulness and energy in equal measure. This is a nearfield monitor built for small to medium-sized control rooms, project studios, broadcast trucks and mobile setups.
A 6.5-inch woofer, fortified by an advanced reflex port design, exhibits low-distortion low-frequency reproduction down to 41Hz, while the 3/4-inch metal dome tweeter, bolstered by Genelec’s Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), yields flat on- and off-axis response and rock-solid imaging. Two low-distortion 90W amplifiers drive the woofer and tweeter independently, achieving an SPL of up to 105dB.
The 8040B’s recycled aluminium cabinet, shaped using Genelec’s Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) technology, combines transparent, uncoloured audio quality with a distinctive aesthetic. Rear-panel room compensation switches let engineers adapt the monitor’s response to their specific working environment, supporting confident, accurate mixing decisions.
Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) circuitry automatically switches the 8040B into a green, power-saving standby mode when no signal is present. Threaded mounting holes and compatible accessories support wall or ceiling mounting, and the included Iso-Pod stand provides vibration decoupling for desktop use, making the 8040B a versatile reference monitor for a wide range of professional applications.
