The KEF BL12b outdoor bollard subwoofer adds a dedicated bass component to a landscape audio system. Its 300 mm low-frequency driver handles the bass foundation beneath compatible outdoor main speakers, allowing the installation to separate the reproduction of low frequencies from the positioning of the satellites. The bollard enclosure provides a defined form for integrating that bass source into the site.

The specified frequency response is 24 Hz–300 Hz at ±6 dB. A nominal impedance of 4 ohms and sensitivity of 88 dB at 2.83V/1m give the electrical and acoustic references needed for system planning. Nominal coverage is 360 degrees, distributing the low-frequency output around the enclosure's position within the landscape.

The subwoofer requires a KEF Network DSP Amplifier, with 400W recommended amplifier power. A 170 Hz low-pass filter is recommended for integration with the main speakers. These are system configuration requirements, so the amplification and processing should be selected together with the intended speaker layout. The enclosure uses external power amplification rather than housing its own amplifier.

IPX5 protection, UV-resistant construction and an aluminium grille support permanent outdoor placement. Ground-stake and hardscape arrangements provide different installation options. Without its mount, the cabinet measures 816 × 362 × 362 mm and weighs 19 kg. The mounting footprint, acoustic position and cable route can therefore be considered as one installation plan, giving the main speakers a separate bass foundation while keeping the outdoor layout coordinated. The separate bass enclosure lets the main speakers remain compact while the subwoofer supplies the larger driver area required for its dedicated low-frequency role.
