The dbx 560A Compressor/Limiter is a professional dynamics processor designed to deliver the renowned VCA-based compression performance that has made dbx a trusted name in audio processing for decades. Based on the technology found in the industry-standard dbx 160A, the 560A brings versatile compression and limiting capabilities to the compact 500 Series format. Suitable for studio recording, live sound, touring, broadcasting, and portable audio systems, it provides precise control over dynamic range while preserving the natural character and impact of the original signal.
The processor features selectable OverEasy® and Hard Knee compression characteristics, allowing engineers to choose between smooth, transparent compression and aggressive peak control depending on the application. Variable threshold, ratio, and output gain controls provide exceptional flexibility, supporting everything from subtle vocal leveling to powerful drum compression and brick-wall limiting. True RMS level detection ensures consistent and natural dynamics processing, while program-dependent attack and release times automatically respond to changing signal characteristics for musical, transparent operation.
The dbx 560A also includes the exclusive Infinity+ compression mode, which uses negative compression ratios to reduce output level when signals exceed the selected threshold, making it highly effective for controlling excessive vocal levels, loud choruses, and unpredictable program material. Comprehensive visual monitoring is provided by a 19-segment switchable Input/Output LED meter and a 12-segment Gain Reduction meter, enabling accurate adjustment during recording and live operation. Electronically balanced and unbalanced RF-filtered inputs and outputs ensure excellent signal integrity with low noise and minimal distortion. Compatible with standard 500 Series power frames, the dbx 560A delivers professional-grade compression and limiting in a compact single-slot module.
