The dbx 530 Parametric EQ is a professional three-band equalizer designed to provide exceptional tonal control and precision for studio recording, live sound, broadcast, and touring applications. Based on the renowned dbx 905, the 530 continues the company’s legacy of high-performance modular signal processors by delivering true fully parametric equalization within the compact and versatile 500 Series format. Its flexible filter architecture allows engineers to accurately shape audio signals, eliminate unwanted resonances, and enhance overall sonic balance with exceptional control.

Each of the three overlapping frequency bands provides independent adjustment of center frequency, bandwidth (Q), and up to ±15 dB of reciprocal cut or boost, allowing precise correction or creative tonal shaping across the audio spectrum. The adjustable Q controls enable both narrow corrective filtering and broad musical equalization, making the processor suitable for a wide variety of recording and sound reinforcement tasks. For applications requiring the removal of unwanted frequencies, each band can be independently switched into Infinite Notch mode, providing deep attenuation without affecting the remaining filter sections.

The low and high frequency bands can also be independently switched between bell and shelving filter operation, giving engineers greater flexibility when shaping overall tonal balance. A dedicated On switch allows immediate comparison between processed and bypassed signals, simplifying equalization decisions during critical listening. Electronically balanced and unbalanced RF-filtered inputs and outputs maintain excellent signal integrity while delivering low distortion, wide dynamic range, and reliable performance.
