JBL Intellivox DS280 Active Column Loudspeaker

The JBL Intellivox DS280 Active Column Loudspeaker is engineered to provide excellent speech intelligibility even in challenging acoustic conditions. It can maintain a consistent sound pressure level over distances up to 35 meters, with the potential for greater reach in less demanding environments. The system comprises sixteen custom-designed 4-inch loudspeakers arranged according to JBL’s patented algorithm, driven by an eight-channel class-D amplifier with a sophisticated switched-mode power supply, ensuring reliable long-term performance.

The DS280 includes a comprehensive set of surveillance functions to meet the stringent requirements of Voice Alarm (life safety) applications. Control is provided via JBL’s proprietary WinControl software, which offers intuitive management of beam steering parameters, audio processing, presets, and surveillance features. Its compact array length allows for unobtrusive installation in architecturally sensitive spaces. The system’s low-frequency response can be extended using a JBL subwoofer for full-range applications.

Equipped with vertical beam shaping through DDS Technology, wide horizontal coverage, 32-bit floating point DSP, dual line inputs, volume control, delay, eight-band parametric EQ, and eight user-definable presets, the DS280 ensures precise and reliable sound reinforcement. Additional features include automatic volume control via a built-in ambient microphone, network readiness, upgradeable firmware, and simulation compatibility with DDA, Catt-Acoustic, Odeon, and EASE4.3 software.
