The Lexicon PCM96 Surround is a parallel stereo and surround hardware reverb and effects processor that builds on the success of the standard PCM96 while adding dedicated multi-channel capability. It provides 50 legendary Lexicon reverbs, delays, and modulation effects, along with new pitch algorithms and a purpose-built Surround Room algorithm designed for film, broadcast, and multi-channel music production.

Multi-mode filters are placed at several points throughout the audio flow, giving engineers precise control over reverb shaping while preserving the distinctive Lexicon sound the brand is known for. Every reverb algorithm includes an Infinite switch that allows the decay to sustain indefinitely, useful for building unusual sound design backgrounds and atmospheric elements in post-production work.

The PCM96 Surround is available with either six channels of XLR stereo AES digital I/O, or two DB-25 six-channel analog I/O connectors paired with a DB-25 six-channel digital I/O connector, giving integrators flexibility to match the unit to their existing studio wiring standard. Both configurations also include MIDI and word clock connectivity for tight synchronization within larger post and broadcast facilities.

Configuration and control is handled through HiQnet System Architect software, and the processor operates with 32-bit floating point processing at sample rates up to 96 kHz. With its parallel stereo and surround processing capability, the PCM96 Surround is well suited to film mixing stages, broadcast facilities, and high-end music studios that require flagship-quality reverb across multiple output formats simultaneously.
