The JBL Intellivox DS180 Active Column Loudspeaker is designed for smaller, less reverberant spaces where improved speech intelligibility is essential. It can also function as a fill or delay system in larger Intellivox installations, providing coverage in shadowed zones. A single DS180 covers areas up to 25 meters while maintaining consistent sound pressure across the audience. The system features twelve custom 4-inch full-range loudspeakers driven by an eight-channel class-D amplifier with a sophisticated switched-mode power supply, ensuring reliable long-term performance.

The DS180 incorporates comprehensive surveillance functions to meet stringent Voice Alarm (life safety) requirements. Control is available through JBL’s proprietary WinControl software, offering user-friendly management of beam steering parameters, audio processing, and surveillance functions. Its modest array length allows for unobtrusive installation in architecturally sensitive spaces. Low-frequency performance can be extended using a JBL subwoofer system, enabling full-range operation when required.

Equipped with vertical beam shaping via DDS Technology, wide horizontal dispersion, and 32-bit floating point DSP, the DS180 delivers precise sound coverage and superior intelligibility. Additional features include dual line inputs, volume control, delay, eight-band parametric EQ, user-definable presets, automatic volume control via a built-in ambient microphone, network readiness, firmware upgradeability, and simulation compatibility with DDA, Catt-Acoustic, Odeon, and EASE4.3. The Intellivox DS180 is suitable for applications including boardrooms, conference facilities, lecture halls, theatres, AV presentation rooms, atriums, and other professional AV environments.
