The JBL Intellivox DS380 Active Column Loudspeaker is engineered to provide excellent speech intelligibility even in challenging acoustic conditions. It can maintain a constant sound pressure level over distances up to 45 meters, with potential for extended coverage in less demanding acoustic environments. The system features twenty custom-designed 4-inch full-range loudspeakers driven by a sixteen-channel class-D amplifier with a sophisticated switched-mode power supply, ensuring reliable long-term operation. The loudspeakers are arranged according to JBL’s patented algorithm for optimal performance.

The DS380 integrates a comprehensive set of surveillance functions to comply with stringent Voice Alarm (life safety) requirements. Control is provided through JBL’s proprietary WinControl software, which allows user-friendly management of beam steering parameters, audio processing, presets, and surveillance functions. Its compact array length makes the DS380 suitable for unobtrusive installation in architecturally sensitive spaces. The system’s low-frequency response can be extended using a JBL subwoofer for full-range performance.

Equipped with vertical beam shaping via DDS Technology, wide horizontal dispersion, 32-bit floating point DSP, dual line inputs, volume control, delay, eight-band parametric EQ, and eight user-definable presets, the DS380 ensures precise and reliable sound reinforcement. Additional features include automatic volume control via a built-in ambient microphone, network readiness, firmware upgradeability, and simulation compatibility with DDA, Catt-Acoustic, Odeon, and EASE4.3.
