The Lexicon PCM96 is a hardware stereo reverb and effects processor that blends decades of Lexicon reverb heritage with newly developed algorithms. It delivers 28 reverb, delay, and modulation effects, including completely new Room and Hall algorithms alongside reworked versions of Lexicon’s most recognized studio reverbs, giving engineers a versatile processor for music production, broadcast, and live sound reinforcement.

The new Room algorithm allows reflection patterns to be selected, scaled, and equalized while audio continues to pass through the unit in real time. These patterns can be reversed or combined with a traditional reverb tail to extend decay or reinforce the sense of space around a source. Multi-mode filters placed throughout the signal flow give more precise shaping of every reverb while preserving the distinctive Lexicon sound that has defined the brand since its founding.

Every algorithm includes an Infinite switch that sustains the reverb tail indefinitely, a useful creative tool for building atmospheric pads, drones, and unusual sound design elements for both music and post-production. The PCM96 ships with over 1200 factory presets spanning decades of Lexicon’s sound library, including a number of recognizable classic presets carried forward from earlier flagship units.

Connectivity includes AES/EBU digital I/O, dual RJ45 Ethernet inputs, BNC word clock, 5-pin MIDI in/out/thru, and Compact Flash storage for presets and configuration data. The processor runs 32-bit floating point processing at sample rates up to 96 kHz and is configured through HiQnet System Architect software, making it straightforward to integrate into networked studio and touring rigs.
