The Allen & Heath SQ-5 is a professional 48-channel digital mixer designed for live sound, AV applications, installations, and monitoring environments where high-performance audio processing and compact portability are essential. Powered by Allen & Heath’s advanced 96kHz XCVI FPGA processing engine, the SQ-5 delivers exceptional audio quality, ultra-low latency operation, and extensive mixing capabilities within a compact rack-mountable design.
The mixer features 16 motorized faders plus a dedicated master fader, 16 onboard microphone preamps, a high-resolution 7-inch capacitive touchscreen, and eight assignable SoftKeys for customizable workflow control. Its intuitive drag-and-drop channel layout, custom naming options, color coding, and chromatic channel metering system enable efficient operation and rapid access to critical functions during live performances and productions.
Comprehensive onboard processing includes high-pass filters, gates with sidechain functionality, four-band parametric EQ, compressors, graphic EQ, and dynamic processing on every channel and mix bus. The SQ-5 also incorporates eight stereo FX engines with dedicated stereo returns, utilizing the acclaimed RackExtra effects library featuring reverbs, delays, modulation effects, and other professional-grade processing tools.
Integrated recording and streaming capabilities are provided through a built-in 32×32 USB audio interface and SQ-Drive USB recording system, supporting multitrack recording, playback, virtual soundcheck, and live streaming applications. The SLink expansion port allows seamless integration with Allen & Heath stage boxes and remote I/O devices, expanding the system to accommodate larger productions.
