The JBL Intellivox DSX180 Active Column Loudspeaker is ideally suited for smaller, less reverberant environments where improved speech intelligibility is required, and can also function as a fill system in larger Intellivox installations, providing coverage in shadow zones. A single DSX180 ensures even sound pressure over an area up to 25 meters. It features ten custom-designed 4-inch loudspeakers and four 1-inch dome tweeters, driven by an eight-channel class-D amplifier with a sophisticated switched-mode power supply, ensuring years of reliable operation.

The dome tweeters enhance high-frequency horizontal coverage and improve overall sound quality for both speech and music. The system incorporates a comprehensive set of surveillance functions to meet strict Voice Alarm (life safety) requirements. Control is provided through JBL’s WinControl software, which allows precise adjustment of beam steering parameters, audio processing, and surveillance functions. Its compact array length ensures unobtrusive implementation in architecturally sensitive environments, while the low-frequency response can be extended using a JBL subwoofer system.

The DSX180 offers vertical beam shaping via DDS Technology, wide horizontal dispersion, 32-bit floating point DSP, dual line inputs, volume control, delay up to 20 seconds, eight-band parametric EQ, and eight user-definable, password-protected presets. Additional features include automatic volume control via a built-in ambient microphone, network readiness, upgradeable firmware, integral surveillance, and simulation capability with DDA, Catt-Acoustic, Odeon, and EASE4.3. Ideal for use in places of worship, conference facilities, lecture halls, A/V presentation rooms, or as a fill system in larger Intellivox setups.
