The JBL Intellivox DS500 Active Column Loudspeaker is the flagship of the slim line Intellivox DDS range, installed in high-profile projects worldwide. Engineered for venues requiring excellent speech intelligibility under highly reverberant conditions, it features an acoustic length exceeding 4 meters, providing long-throw capability and enhanced control at lower frequencies. The system comprises thirty-two custom-designed 4-inch loudspeakers driven by a sixteen-channel class-D amplifier with a sophisticated switched-mode power supply, arranged according to JBL’s patented algorithm to deliver reliable, even sound pressure across areas up to 70 meters.

The DS500 includes extensive surveillance functions for life safety compliance and can be controlled via JBL’s WinControl software, allowing adjustment of beam steering parameters, audio processing, and system presets. Its advanced low-mid frequency control and slim, unobtrusive design make it suitable for implementation in very large, highly reverberant, and architecturally sensitive environments. The system’s low-frequency response can be further enhanced with a JBL subwoofer system for full-range coverage.

Equipped with vertical beam shaping using DDS Technology, wide horizontal dispersion, 32-bit floating point DSP, dual line inputs, volume control, delay, eight-band parametric EQ, and eight user-definable, password-protected presets, the DS500 ensures precise and consistent audio performance. Additional features include automatic volume control via a built-in ambient microphone, network readiness, upgradeable firmware, integral surveillance, and simulation compatibility with DDA, Catt-Acoustic, Odeon, and EASE4.3. Ideal for transport hubs, large places of worship, lecture halls, theatres, large conference facilities, atriums, and museums.
