The BSS Soundweb OMNI 256p Open Architecture Digital Signal Processor is the most powerful enterprise-grade processor in the BSS product line, engineered to handle today’s most complex networked audio installations while remaining ready to adapt to future system demands. It provides 256×256 Dante/AES67 networked audio channels at up to 96 kHz, giving system designers extensive routing capacity for large venues, hospitality projects, and enterprise deployments.

An onboard MUSE scripting engine allows the 256p to run a virtually unlimited number of scripts written in JavaScript, Python, or Groovy, and it natively supports low-code, Node-RED style development through MUSE Automator. MUSE also handles protocol translation, giving the 256p backward compatibility with earlier-generation Soundweb Contrio wall controllers, Soundweb London processors, and Crown DCi amplifiers within a single unified control environment.

The processor includes 8 fully flexible GPIO ports that can each be configured as analog or digital, input or output, supporting up to 80 AEC channels and 32 VoIP lines for seamless integration with building phone systems for paging, announcements, and conferencing applications. An internal 128 channel media player with 500GB SSD storage enables playback of pre-recorded audio directly from the unit, useful for background music, chimes, and scheduled announcements.

Configuration, control, and monitoring are handled through the AVX Software Suite, which includes AVX Architect for system diagramming and device configuration, and AVX Control for day-to-day interface access across Windows, iOS, macOS, Android, and AMX Varia touch panels. Dual redundant power supplies, primary and secondary Dante networking, and enterprise-grade network security support make the 256p suitable for mission-critical installations in stadiums, arenas, hotels, casinos, and large corporate and government facilities.
